Western Languages and Literatures Department has Double Major programs with Linguistics, Philosophy, Psychology, Translation, and Turkish Language and Literature Departments.

- The earliest time you can apply to a double major program is the beginning of your third semester, and the latest is the beginning of your fifth semester.
- The minimum GPA requirement is 3.00. Some departments might require a higher GPA, please check with individual departments.
- You need to have passed all your classes with a passing grade (No “F” on your transcript). If you have an F, you can apply after repeating the course and getting a passing grade.
- If you are a WLL student, who will apply to double major programs with various departments, check with individual departments to learn their additional requirements. Some departments hold written exams and interviews, or require a statement of purpose. Check the exam and interview dates with the department to which you are applying.
- Fill out the application form (“ÇAP Başvuru Formu”). You can download the form from the Arts and Sciences Faculty website:

- Get the approval of the following people to apply for the double major: the Double Major Advisor of your current department, the Chair of your current department, the Double Major Advisor of the department you will apply to, the Chair of this department. You can get these approvals via email. First, email the Double Major Advisor of your current department, who will give their approval and forward the email to the other three faculty members.
- Your transcript, showing your most recent grades. If the application period ends in August, submit a transcript that includes the Summer semester grades.
Some departments may require additional documents or examinations in addition to the application form and transcript. For instance, certain departments may request a statement of purpose. It is important that you are informed about the exam and interview dates of the department to which you are applying.
Applicants who wish to pursue a Double Major in the Department of Western Languages and Literatures are required to submit their application file — including the application form, confirmation e-mails, transcript, and statement of purpose — to the Double Major advisor of the department they are applying to, Dr. Burcu Kayışcı Akkoyun (burcu.akkoyun@bogazici.edu.tr), within the announced application period. All documents must be submitted as a single PDF file.

After the application period ends, there will be both a written and an oral exam. The dates will be announced on Western Languages and Literatures Department website https://fas.bogazici.edu.tr/tr/formlar/ogrenci-formlari
- After you are accepted to a double major program, you will need to register as a double major student at the Registrar’s Office (Kayıt İşleri) by submitting the form “ÇAP Kayıt Beyan Formu.” You can find the form here: http://ogrenciler.bogazici.edu.tr/Home/SubPage/universiteyekayit
- You will be assigned two academic advisors. You need to be in contact with your double major advisors during the registration periods.
- You need to maintain your 3.00 GPA, with the exception of one semester when it is allowed to go down as low as 2.90.
- You have to finish the program in 10 semesters. This does not include Summer semesters, one semester spent as an Erasmus student, or the semesters when you take a leave of absence. If you join an Erasmus program, you can finish your degree in 11 semesters.
