Copywriting Certificate Program

The copywriting certificate is intended to provide students with an understanding of copywriting within the fields of media and advertising. The program is open to undergraduates of Boğaziçi University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences with a cumulative average of 3.00 and above. Students can apply to the program at the beginning of their third semester or the beginning of their second year by the end of the add drop period. To enroll in the Copywriting Certificate Program, submit your transcript and application form to the program coordinator. You are not officially enrolled in the certificate program unless you have filled out an application form and submitted your transcript.

The courses required to complete the copywriting option leading to a copywriting certificate are the following:

Advanced English or ENGL 105 3 credits
HSS (Humanities and Social Sciences) 3 credits
HIST or FA History of Art 3+3 credits
LIT 311 Copywriting for Advertising and Marketing 3 credits
LIT 411-412 Copywriting I & II 3+3 credits
CL 205, CL 206, CL 307, TKL 301 or TKL 302 / 3 Credits

FAQ

How do I apply?

Students beginning their third semester may apply by the end of the add drop period. Download and complete the application form and submit it along with the most recent transcript to the coordinator’s mailbox (WLL Office: TB 4th floor). Please complete your application before your final semester.

Who can apply?
All full-time Bogazici University undergraduate students. Bogazici University graduate students may apply, but they should contact the program coordinator for more information.

What happens after I apply?
There is no formal notification of acceptance. Students who meet the requirements are automatically accepted and must complete all required courses while maintaining the required GPA.

What happens if I miss the application deadline?
Students do not need to apply immediately upon starting the third semester. The program accepts continuous applications prior to the start of the senior (last) year.

Which Art History courses can I take?
Here is a list of the most commonly offered courses that count toward the Art History requirement. Not all courses are offered every semester. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure completion of the courses before graduation.

I spent a semester/year abroad through Erasmus/Exchange. Will these courses count towards the certificate?
The decision to accept transfer courses is made on a case-by-case basis. Please see the coordinator.

How do I get my certificate?
It is the student’s responsibility to notify the coordinator of intent to graduate at the beginning of the second semester of her/his senior year. Students should contact the coordinator at the beginning of the senior year to review transcripts. If a student completes all courses before graduation, the certificate will be given along with the diploma.
